It makes very little sense to me, as it's quite clear that they intended the Destroy ending to be the worst possible ending, but they also had things like EDI not being confirmed destroyed and possibly the Geth too with high enough galactic readiness. Do we have any evidence or speculation as to why the Destroy ending is the one which allows Shepard to live? This is another reason why I'm mistrustful of the Synthesis ending, among all the other issues that many people have mentioned. In Synthesis, Shepard dies no matter what? Why is the secret ending (I.E where Shepard takes a breath and their LI doesn't put their name with the fallen) for Destroy, not Synthesis? But that ending is the only one where Shepard dies. The "best" ending is Synthesis because that's what you need the highest galactic readiness for, and is also what people at Bioware say is the best ending. I just replayed Mass Effect 2 and 3, and I got to the ending and realised something.
